About Nancy...

Hello! My name is Nancy Provoncha and I'm still playing with dolls even though I am old enough to have worn bell-bottoms the first time they were popular! I played with Barbie dolls with my sisters and friends when I was a child, and I dreamed of owning them all when I grew up. Little did I know, that my childhood favorites would become worth so much money later on! I tore up most of my dolls and forgot them during highschool. Then in 1981, I saw a Barbie doll in the store that I liked and bought her. I remembered my childhood dreams and started a collection. I started sewing for the older dolls that I bought nude at the flea markets. I couldn't afford the high prices for vintage gloves, so I taught myself how to make them. I started making doll jewelry too. People liked them so much, they told me to sell them...so I did! I have been selling dolls and accessories since 1991.

I have a real job as a Software Engineer, but you won't find too many fancy java applets or cgi scripts on my web pages. My doll business is my play time, so I try not to add the stress of work in it. It is how I let my creative energies flow. When I start out to make a one-of-a-kind doll, I may envision or draw the outfit, or I may just work with the fabrics and let it evolve. The ones shown on this website, I have given names that I try to fit to the character of the doll. I create the accessories to match the outfit. I like to make wonderful outfits and jewels in miniature that I could never afford in real life!

I won't be doing any dollshows in 1998, because on December 30, 1997, I had a beautiful baby boy. I won't be dragging him to shows until he can at least walk (I will have to train him to scope out the other dealer's dolls!) He keeps me busy, but I still find time for other projects. My other hobbies include collecting vintage clothing, sewing for big people, and SHOPPING! Someday, if I ever find time, I would like to learn how to make the shoes I design.

This site is dedicated to my Grandmother who gave me so many wonderful Barbie things, my Mother for helping with the baby, and my Father who calls my gloves "eels."
